No one will be disappointed by this knife. It is some beautiful thing. That steelsure holds an edge as well. How does it sharpen? Well the grind angle looks more like my revovler or steeper, so I bet it will be awesome. Go buy one and bee happy. Bob
Daniel,
Thank You....I just ordered it from Knives Plus.......should get it early next week.....I have the original TC w/Cocobola handles, and the TC 2....I'll probaly keep getting the TC's as long as they keep making them...pass em on to the grandsons.
I have the Tomcat 3 also and I have to say it's precision and smoothnes impressed me. it's my only SOG I have and it's looks scream SOG it's a little on the heavy side but so well balanced when you open that it's not noticable
I like knives that are robust despite it's stoutness it still looks sleek and stylish, opening is very very smooth without a hint of play thats a sign of good quality control. It uses teflon washers I want to swap them out for phosforus bronze but the action on this thing works so well I am afraid to mess with it. I bought mine when it first came out at knifecenter.com I have to say this is one of the perhaps the best folder I have come across.
The arch lock looks like a strong locking mechanism at least as strong as if not stonger than archlock. A bonus is it doen't have a name like infidel which I am not fond of.
The best thing about this knife is it's ergonomically designed to facilitate gripping it in the cutting position with the thumb over the ridges on top of the blade. SOG designed this to be a top quality cutting tool not a weapon although it looks so good it will undoubtably attract the Mall Ninja crowd on second thought they will probably purchase a cheap knockoff.
The grips are functionable I wonder how this would look with textured teak wood grips instead.
