i am purchasing a SOG Trident Desert Camo Knife TF-5

i am trying to find if this knife, being assisted, falls into the switch blade catagory...

does anyone know where i can find info on these ridiculous California laws?

damn i got get out of this state

If you hate it, leave. Cali. has some lenient knife laws, and assisted openers are not illegal (except for school areas, check 626.10PC)

its legal, i live in san jose california and i bought an sog trident from a local store a few years ago.

hey i dont hate it just angry at the price i payed for smokes today

hell yeah! cool, looks like i am going to get one.... thanks a lot for the quick reply..... i love sog knives

i live in Los Angeles and i own a trident, its completely legal. Switchblades, full Autos, and gravity blades are illegal, but spring assisted knives are completely legal.

I was told by the Concord, CA PD that my Camillus HEAT (assisted opener) is legal to own and carry. Concord PD also said that here in CA, you can own pretty much anything you want, and keep it in your collection at home.

BUT:
Carrying is a different matter. Assisted openers are fine, anything else like autos, switchblades, out-the-fronts, gravity knives, ballistics & most balisongs are not. How police elsewhere will react is a concern too.

thx - cpr

actually have made some good friends at my local precinct here in LA and everytime i have a question about knife legality i go to them first and foremost

I see the patrol guys I know at Starbucks at the beginning of their shift. We talk about everything from guns to knives to the stock market, etc.

that is very cool and refreshing to see.

may i suggest you go to their stations and submit your positive experiences in writing? written compliments are not often submitted, and go a long way in an officer's evaluation and reputation.

Yup, I think I'll figure out how to do that.

We (our Pack & schools) have a good relationship with the PD here; our Tiger cubs get to tour the police station
(and play in a patrol car :)) and we work through the police station once a year to donate to food banks. We always make sure to acknowledge the guys specifically who help us. We also buy a few Starbucks cards & give them out to the patrol guys & firemen we see at the Memorial Day & July Fourth parades & events. The boys love it.
