Which production tanto (SOG Tsunami or CS Recon Tanto) do you prefer? I will be buying one of these two soon, and would appreciate comments about both. Thanks for replying

I also was looking at both of these knives, Cold Steel probably holds an edge longer and is an inch longer that SOGs 6 inch blade, but SOG's tsunami is partialy serated which in my opinion makes for a better all around cutter. I also like the blade finish better on the sog, the black epoxy coating on the cold steel is rough, it seams like it would drag. SOG is now offering the tsunami with a kydex sheath like the cold steel.
Lastly, the Tsunami costs about 65 - 70 bucks, while the Cold steel recon tanto costs about 80 bucks unless you buy a "second" from cold steel for 45 bucks.
p.s. I have a "second" cold steel master hunter & except for the number 2 branded in the handle, you would never know it was a second as I could find nothing wrong with it.

Hope this helps.

Cold Steel Recon without hesitation. SOG made some fantastic fixed blades, but the Tsunami is not one of them. I have used both at different times, and I was much more comfortable with the Cold Steel. The SOG had better balance, but the blade on the Recon is far superior to the Tsunami. Yes, this is just my humble opinion
