I know that some members here dislike or even hat SOG knives but I would like some honest opinions on the sog twitch 2 maybe even the twitch 1 if it's not to big

I had one once. It's fine for an EDC option and entry level assisted opener. Easy to sharpen.

Don't mind us, we are used to seeing and handling expensive knives. The Twitch 2 is great for what it is.

I had one and didnt like it for an edc. Fun to flip but didnt hold an edge and the lock failed when I spine wacked it.

I got a Twitch II at Lowe's a few years ago. Its not a bad knife, but a little over priced in my opinion. I took pics of it and my Kershaw Random Leek, which are both about the same price, to compare:

The folded metal parts on the Twitch II are a little questionable, IMO.

its good but the lock-up isn't all that great. if you try to tighten the pivot to lessen the ammount of blade play, the assist spring isn't strong enough to completely deploy the blade....you can choose relatively solid lock-up or good deployment. i personally prefer torsion bar ssisted knives such as the random leek mentioned above. any of the kershaw speed-safe knives work great. i replaced the twitch ii with a kershaw scallion. its about the same size but cheaper, made in the u.s., and the assisted openning, blade steel, and overall quality is better.

The Twitch II is a decent knife, not great, but good enough for most normal cutting. Just don't go batonning through a stump with it. The Kershaw knives that have been mentioned are definately better though, also, you might want to look at the Buck AOs, they're my favorites.

Are we now spine whacking knives that don't stand a chance?

Seriously, there are fixed blades out there.

Got a Twitch II about 5 months ago. Agree that it's slightly over-priced for AUS8. Ended up getting it for under $40 on eBay. Initially liked it very much. Super sharp out of the box and easy to keep sharp. A/O spring mechanism seemed very weak and gritty when used, especially with thumb stud. Took the knife completely apart and cleaned and lubed -- seems OK now, but still works much easier with the kicker than the thumb stud. I generally use it as a "backup" to my primary EDC.

Ok it's just that I wanted to buy a SOG knife but it doesn't matter as long as it's a all metal construction and it slim it doesn't even have to be assisted opening that's not what drew me to the twitch in the first place

It's part of my EDC rotation (Skyline right now).
It was my sole EDC for more than a year, no issues at all.
Blade/grind is a little thick to be a slice-o-matic, but good for a gen.purpose EDC.
Lock-up/deploy was always rock solid and reliable, easy to sharpen.
I like it. :)

I been carrying the twitch 2 for awhile now, but it plays as my back up and knife that won't scare anyone. my prime edc is either the ZT 350 or Mannix 2 and my Umnumzaan just depends how i feel....

BTW why would you do a whack test on a twitch II, i just don't see no sense in it. We know it isn't a real strong blade, that's pretty much common sense. IMO

Much like drinking hot chocolate with the spoon still in the cup.

Stop doing that, you'll put your eye out.

I really like the twitch II, in fact, I am looking at picking one up soon. I have handled Þhem a few different times at gun shows, but it just wasn't on the short list. That has changed though, next time I see one I will buy it.

I had one and really liked it, but not enough to replace it after the spring broke. Lockup was a little sloppy for me.

I'm sure I had a defective one, since I haven't heard of many problems with SOG's A/O.

It's just I don't want somebody to think I am a nutbar when I whip out say my crkt natural which is my biggest edc knife

I grew up in Brooklyn and was jumped a few times as a kid so I was on the defensive a lot and grew to appreciate a blade with some reach but now I am older and living in a boring town and I don't need a big folder for self defense as much anymore
