SOG used to have a steady flow of great knives...

Walking in an outdoor store in Atlanta a few weeks ago you see GSM's real market........

What a bummer. I think sog was headed in the right direction with the seal xr and some of the more premium offerings they were dabbling with. Seems gsm is more interested in the Walmart specials.

I acquired a SOG Tomcat that was beat up and was wanting to get it through a spa treatment.. Called SOG and asked about it, was told by their customer service that they didn't support the spa treatment on their old knives and offered to replace it with a new replacement.. I then found out that the same company who bought cold steel bought SOG and it was like Oh well, we don't support the refurbishing the older blades anymore.. I was then turned off by the company and the Tom cat is sitting in my desk drawer, hasn't seen day light or edc rotation in 6 months.. Good knife, built like a tank, but no customer service or refurbishing of this model is available

I used to want a tomcat with the arc lock like a madman. But they were always just out of reach and now the second hand price range is just too much for my desires. That was a classy looking knife and I loved the old arc lock.

I have very mixed feelings about GSM , but not all bad . Much better than I feared .

I have a full Ti 3V AD-10 from GSM , that I don't believe LCT would ever have produced .

And , I got it crazy cheap for what it is . From Demko , similar , I could never afford it .

Lot of guys love the FM1 . I don't have one , but looks OK to me .

3V 3.5" Frenzy , again a pretty cool / interesting variation on an old school Cold Steel design . Got that one at a bargain price also .

Generally , GSM has held the line on quality ,at least for the Taiwan made .

Plenty of downside , cheaped up stuff , but that speaks for itself . Or come to the Cold Steel sub and read all about it .

Maybe they will do the same for SOG ? IDK . Some good , higher end , and some more junky .

Been looking at the SOG SEAL Commander fixed-blades. Here it is; compared to a Pentagon FX Elite.
