SOG Vulcan, or Benchmade 551 Griptillion? What yall think of the two?

I haven't been impressed with any of the Sogs I have owned or handled. I won a Sog at my office Christmas party raffle this year, I gave it away.

I have the Benchmade Griptillian and am quite fond of it. Its not perfect, but for the money its a solid daily carry folder.

Can't even compare any of the upper end sogs(tomcat, fat cat, vulcan) with their cheaper stuff. I'd take any of their higher end stuff.

I like the look of the Vulcan tanto a lot better. Seems to achieve the look the Benchmade is trying for. Looks good on paper, steel and all; mechanism's probably OK. If it was 3.75" or more I might even buy one.

I think I'd go with it---through a good dealer---and just exchange it until I had a good one.

I'd say the Sog Vulcan between the two.

Say what you want about Sog but they have a few gems in their line up and the Vulcan is one of them. It sports a 3.5" x .160" thick VG-10 blade with Arc lock. The one I have is super smooth opening and lock up is rock solid. Like all the Arc lock models I have or had. It's one of my many favorites..

Both are good knives but the Sog over the Grip IMO.
