I was over at SOG's Seconds page today and noticed that they have the X-42 Field knife and X-42 Recondo on sale for 50% off. Plus a number of other cool knives for 40% off.

I have three Seconds from SOG.:) They are a great deal!

Carl... buy me ... give me a home Carl... I'll go so well with your other blued knives Carl...

:D ;)

Looks like they are all gone now.....too bad you missed out.

PSYCH!!!

How are the SOG 2nds ? Are they mainly cosmetic glitches involved or are the "problems" more drastic ?

Slight cosmetic flaws and I do mean SLIGHT. My Tsunami was perfect in everyway. It had a small RC test dimple in it, same with my Revolver. My X-42 Autoclip had a small oval pit in the steel, hardly noticeable.

Have to look hard to see some of these flaws. They are good deals on good knives.:) I have no problem buying them.

I'll have Loretta call you tomorrow...:D :p

I am currently evaluating the Desert Dagger,Government Agent, and

Mini Pentagon. I have to say, these are all first rate knives and are

holding up real well to my tests.

82DABN, those were my first 3 SOGS. Still have and love them.:) Glad they are giving you good service. What tests have you put them threw?

Carl, Resistance is futile.:D Your Bowie needs a play mate.;) he he he

82DABN,
my Bowie and Seal are Factory 2nds.... but I couldn't tell ya why, there was nothing my eye could see.
Plus I've done more damage to them during usage such that whatever "blem'ed" 'em in the first place no longer has meaning. I'll take Factory 2nd any day and all cash saved goes into the Guinness account.

Wildmanh,
now you know my Bowie has plenty o' playmates. Just yesterday afternoon the wife BBQ'ed over 3 lbs of tri-tip and the Tech II easily won that battle !!

Cheers,

Carl

Yum! Carl, that sounds really good.:D Do you have any new pics?

I have heard a lot of good things said about the SOG Recon Bowie.
Does it really live up to its reputation?

How much would a second Recon Bowie cost? Give me a ballpark figure?

Hi Wildman,

In answer to your previous question,

1. Cutting test involving heavy rappel-style rope, and many other materials. Also chopping, moderate prying and pommel end hammering.

2. Ease of operation and overall comfort and layout of the tool.

3. Handle seperation under extreme lateral stress.

4. Salt water submersion and degradation (if any...)

5. Electrical Conductivity

6. Sheath Quality

7. Ease of draw and re sheathing the knife

I put knives through their proverbial paces so as not to have an avoidable catastrophic failure in real world usage. It is quite obvious that knives are used for anything and everything besides slashing, stabbing, and cutting other human beings in defense of ones life.

Be safe,

82DABN
