I just got it and the thumb studs spin when you go to open the knife. Is it something that can be easily corrected at home or would it be best to send it to SOG for warranty service.

Hi Backup,

I'm sorry for your knife problems. This one should be easy to rectify. Give Steve a call in our Consumer Services Department and he'll be able to help you out. His phone numbers are:

(425) 771-6230, ext. 229
(888) SOG-BEST, ext. 229

If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. You should really enjoy that Sogwinder II. It's one beefy knife!

Is that in the Sogwinder II (which, again if I remember correctly was the larger model) the thumbstuds are actually screwed into each other through a hole in the blade. I seem to remember periodically taking them off of the one I had while sharpening. You might check if they are only loose versus the blade, or if they are loose relative to each other.

If I have remembered wrong and you are talking about the smaller version of the Sogwinder, there is just a simple phillips screw going into the knurled thumbstud which is easily tightened.
