Sojourner: Another Breeden Blade

I like the design on this one quite a bit. It would easily fill a void in my accumalation of blades. How often are you using the choil, other than what you stated you use it for? Would it help for more fine carving, or using the tip?

WOW That looks like a winner. I like that alot.

Thanks Caine, I like it a lot too!

Thanks T.G. it fills a major void for me as well.

Not really easy for me to just explain my style of knife use in words...too many varying influences over the years. As a rule I guess I am just a choil person. I use a choil a lot and like it for push cuts however for boring in tough material I would hold the handle and have my index finger tight against the guard...in softer material I'd hold the blade in a pinch grip.

Blade pattern, overall shape, blade/handle size ratio, and the handle shape.
Everything look so great.

Particularly impressed with the spark shot. That spark looks so huge and intensive.

That is one severely sweet blade!!!

Thanks man, glad you like it.

Thanks for the compliments Fujita, I'm really glad you like the design.

Yeah, I really like the way the beveled spine throws sparks!

another cool looking knife man... i think i like this one the best too... looks like it would be well suited for the woods... thanks for the pics...:)

As always I love your collaborations with Breeden.

I'm also happy to see some Warthorn'ish features working well in a smaller blade, since i really hope to get one someday.
If I'm parsing the tortuous run on sentence that is my state's knife carry law there is a 4" cutting edge limit unless you're hunting/fishing.

Hi all,

Mistwalker, as is has been said already Sweet looking knife design:D. As all ways your pics and reviews are full of pics and great info. I really like the feel of that knife before sending it out to you. It just felt natural.

Thanks again for the kind comments on the Sojourner knife I made for mistwalker.

Take care all,

Bryan

Thanks Mike, that was the main point of this knife...to be optimized for woods use.

Thank you Joben, there is actually a version drawn of this knife with more prominent guards more like the Warthorn and 1-0.

I have been studying the methods of knife use in other countries where the laws are different and require smaller blades as I anticipate similar laws here at some point. For me personally to make the blade on this one 4 inches I'd have to shorten the handle a bit and possibly taper the tang. I have issues with the physics a knife which the handle mass is much greater than that of the blade and I have some issues with the aesthetics of them also. The striker knife we came up with is the first knife I have ever owned and liked that the handle was so much longer than the blade but....at least I am beginning to adapt.

Bryan's knives are really starting to take on a distinct look. Nice pics and great blade! Enjoy!

Mistwalker any chance you post a pic of all of your Breeden knives? Might be costly to me if I see all of them......lol

Mike

Here are the ones I have on hand at the moment. One is in Illinois...long story...and another is put up. However while I did do the designing on the blue handled one it doesn't technically count as mine, it is my wife's...which is why there is as of yet no thread or review on it. I don't know why she is so adamant about me not leaving the house with it.

Thanks Mike, Bryan does some awesome work.

Everyone has their own idea of "companion" blades but actually that was one of the purposes for that striker knife...the one on the far right, and Bryan can make it with scales or adjust the blade size I'm sure.

I am personally now wanting a larger one, one with about a nine or ten inch blade.

I think I have my large blades covered 3 customs 8 inch blade or longer and one more on the way (NWA).Thats why I like this design of yours something in the 4 1/2 to 5 inch blade. And the smallest one you have is sweet would go great with my warthorn!
