Hey guys, I bought one of these years ago and just re-found it.

I was easily able to get a fire going with some dried grass cuttings twisted into a small ball and placed between the forks. I then transfered it to a larger birds nest of grass cuttings, waited a few moments and then blew it into a fire.

We are now in Autumn here in Oz, but even so, at 11:00 I was able to get it to work in seconds. Its not that practical, but its nice to practice preparing tinder that will take a flame from an ember rather than the super hot sparks of a spark stick.

It is pretty cool. I think a fresnel lens is a little more practical for carry but perhaps not as efficient. Thanks for the post!

I've got a version in stock that has a good handle, two tips, and a carrying case:

If I can get enough time, I'm going to make a video of it in operation this weekend.

Dude, you have some really cool stuff on that site, you are OK with International shipping right?

I'm due a gadget treat soon, lord knows its been a long time since I treated myself.

Wow!! I used to have one of those back in the day! They would light a cigarette in 5-10 seconds even on a semi-overcast day. Folded up to fit in my back pocket too! Almost makes me wish I still smoked. Almost. But it would be great to have for emergency back-up at a fixed base camp!

Storl,

Dims?

The dish itself is about 4" in diameter and 1/2" tall. With the handle, about 3.5" tall. Case is 5" x 5" x 1.5".

I made a video and am working on encoding/uploading it right now.
