Today I'm listing 2 Bark River Highland Specials. This is my favorite Bark River model but I have 3 so these 2 need new homes.
First is new/unused, hasn't cut a thing, sheath treated with Obenaufs then returned to packaging. Antique Smooth Bone scales $SOLD

2nd Highland Special is a "Barn-Era" First Production Run with green canvas micarta and hollow pins. I'm not the original owner of this one and it does not come with the box. I purchased this as "unused" but upon inspection I believe it may have been used to cut up or at least slice into a steak or something once. Its not very evident in the pictures, but there does look like there is some light patina near the tip of the blade. I'm asking $SOLD for this one.

I'll let both of these go for $SOLD. All prices include PP fees and USPS Priority mail shipping.

That 2nd knife is a "Barn" knife. The Barn Knives were the first knives that Mike Stewart and crew made under the name Bark River. They were literally made in a barn before they moved the shop to Escanaba. That is a rare piece and a sweet deal. I wish I had the cash.

Hey Dave,
Thanks for the Bark River education! I've never heard of the "Barn knife" but I'm going to research it a little tonight and update this post afterwards. I didn't overlap these two in order to compare them but I did feel like the "belly" on the 2nd blade near the tip is a little deeper than the 1st. I figured it was a minor change that Mike made or that I was just imagining it. Maybe I should pull this one till I figure out exactly what I'm holding, haha

I found a similar knife here where they referred to the knife as a "Barn-era" Highland Special which Mike Stewart confirmed. While both the knife I have listed and the knife on this thread have the stamps saying "1st Production Run" & "Bark River/Knife & Tool/Bark River, Mich USA"(as opposed to Bark River/Knives/Escanaba, MI USA") mine is stamped on the tang whereas the knife in the thread is stamped on the blade itself like current production models.
