Last, but not least is a Slightly Used blade that I forged some time back from an old Sawmill Blade. I have used this knife around the shop to cut countless boxes, limbs, rope, and various other things.

The handle has a couple of dings and there are some very fine scratches on the blade. This thing cuts like crazy and holds an edge exceptionally well.

It was an experiment in interrupted quench techniques, and has a distinct (non-clayed) hardening line. The blade developed some almost mosaic patterns upon multiple etches. The hardening line and patterns do not show well in the photo, however, they are quite striking in person.

OAL - 11 1/2"
Blade - Tip-to-Handle - 6 7/8"
Stainless Handle Bolts

I learned that the blades from old saw mills are not necessarily L6, but could be 1084 with nichol added in and mabye something else. Looks like a great user and is pretty to boot.

Funny thing, Robert. I was just thinking about how much I like that 1095 and canvas micarta. I'm a sucker for clean, crisp, and simple. It has great lines and a very useful stance. It drew my eye more than the other two, nice as they are.

Just for FYI, Most modern day Saw Mill blades are made from German DIN2003. It is 80% carbon, 8 % chromium and a small amount of lesser additives. For all practical purposes it has virtually the same properties as L-6 and virtually heat treats the same. By the way good looking work on knives and leather

I agree with Nathan. Don't get me wrong, that Ironwood is nice but I'm a sucker for well finished natural canvas Micarta. Great fit and finish on all 3, as usual.

Hi Robert
I'll take the 8.75" in natural canvas micarta. Will forward a pm this evening.
Best regards
Bill

Robert

Email has been sent. I am not sure if you still have the same email address or not. If it has changed, please pm me the new one.

Thanks

Bob

I think I saw all three of these last time over at Roberts, I know for sure I saw the middle and bottom one and I think the top. Any knife of Roberts is a great knife.... but that bottom one is special.

It cuts like wild and holds a super edge.... and the hardening line as well as the patterns are a sweet bonus! Whatever steel the particular saw blade he made this knife from is really of little concern. This blade is right on target..... from heat treat on down!!

But hey, that is nothing new; all of Robert's are right on target! At least every one I have or have seen.... and I have and have seen more than a few of his.

If you don't have a knife made by Robert Dark, you have no idea what you are missing!!!!
And, as far as I am concerned; his sheaths have always been good. BUT, over the last couple of years he has taken that skill to a new level; and now as well as still being good as always........... they are impressive!!!!

This is not meant to be a Robert Dark commercial. I am just telling it like it is. If you don't have a Dark Knife...... you are missing out!!!!! :)

WOW....... You are in the wrong business. You should be on TV selling used cars. :) All I can say is thanks, and the check is in the mail. Just don't drop that check when you get it. It will bounce right on down the sidewalk. :)

Robert,
I'll take the last one. I was in your neighborhood last week but only long enough to bury a cousin. I'll get back in the summer or October.
I have to second everything that Teacher says. Bob does make some "ugly knives" from time to time though. :D
That last one is almost a dead ringer for the "ugly one " i have.

You got it Doc. I'll put it in the mail on Monday.

Hate to hear about your cousin. Come on back up this way and we will talk knives and other nonsense.

Robert
