Description

Offered here is an antique German fixed blade knife paired with a matching honing steel marked Solingen, Germany. This is a pre-model era piece; no model number or maker mark beyond the Solingen stamp on the steel.

The knife has clearly been sharpened and used in the past, as expected for an antique of this age. Blade remains solid with good geometry. No cracks, chips, or structural issues observed.

I am being conservative and transparent with the description. Please review photos carefully and ask questions before committing.

These two items are not what you think/propose they are.
The sharpening steel is german - but these do not go together. The knife appears to be a homemade knife put together of various items during the war - by a soldier or mechanic.
almost sure to be an american. It's very common in WW2.

Thank you for the insight, I appreciate you taking the time to share that.
I want to be clear that I am not a historian or expert on WWII field-made knives, and my description was based on the Solingen-marked honing steel and the overall age/condition, not a definitive provenance claim.
Based on your comment, it’s entirely possible the knife itself is a wartime, field-assembled piece and that the honing steel is unrelated. I do not want to misrepresent the item in any way.
For transparency, I’m updating my understanding accordingly and encourage all interested parties to review the photos and form their own conclusions. I’m happy to answer questions or provide additional photos if helpful.
