About 40 years ago my hobby was wood carving and because I started making and reshaping my own tools my hobby slowly changed to knife making and then bladesmithing. This gave me valuable knowledge about edge geometry, heat treating and sharpening; we carvers are anal about only using razor sharp tools that slide through the wood. This one is a design that i learned from my dad who made them out of chisels by reshaping the edge to a round and changing the edge shape. The cutting edge is sharpened round over 45 degrees each diretion from the tip so the the tool can be used to plunge and also cut to the left and right of the tip, very useful in cutting curves, hollowing and cleaning up a stop cut. I made a few of these, given them to other carvers who once they got the hang of the tool, report that it has become one of their favorites. If there is a carver who would like to give this a try I offer it as guaranteed purchase, if it doesn't work as I have described it can be returned for a full refund.
