You do not see the model D very often - model B is the much more common one. Included with this knife is a brochure from Barry Wood, as well as a very rare Barry Wood / Irie hat. The wood is not ebony. I do not know what type it is, but it appears to be a laminated wood. It is beautiful however! Here are pics of the hat:
