I'd like to sell this Benchmade 710 with milled aluminium handles and s90v blade steel. I am the original owner and I bought it from an authorized dealer. The knife has been carried a few times, but has cut very little. I'm selling this as used, good condition. Please post "I'll take it" on the thread to claim it. Private messages are welcome but do not constitute an agreement to buy. US customers only. PayPal G&S only.
Please read the following detailed description.
Carry wear. There is some evidence of pocket carry. Cosmetics are good.
Cutting edge. The knife was dull out of the box, so I sharpened it once on my wicked edge. While you can use 1" stones to sharpen this knife, they are at the outer limit of what fits in this recurve. If you buy this knife, I recommend maintaining it with a rod based system, like the diamond rods for a sharpmaker or 1/2" bonded resin diamond stones.
Finish. The flat dark earth finish from Benchmade is handsome, but it is very difficult to keep clean. Everything sticks to it. I've been unable to remove the residue from the masking tape that I used to protect the finish during sharpening. You may have some success with an oil based solvent, but I gave up.
Action. You can flick the knife open and sling it closed, but it doesn't act like a typical axis lock. It has more internal resistance. I disassembled the knife and attempted to remove the coating from the pivot area. I used a fine ceramic, but I did not remove enough of the coating to improve the action. There has been no change in the knife's behavior. If you disassemble the knife, you will see that the coating has been thinned out on the tang, but not entirely removed.
Having been very clear about that, I'm offering this for $215 shipped. If the new 710s give you sticker shock, this is your ticket.
