This one is forged from 1095 bar, and differential heat treated with clay.
There is lemon juice etched nice and subtle hamon, but i can't catch it with my phone camera.
Guard is forged and polished with hammer marks. Flats are left raw, just wire brushed after forging. Bevels are finished with 2000 grit and steel wool.
For handle material i used piece of 100+ years old walnut plank i sent to be stabilized. There was some small worm pits, but they are sealed with resin

Details:

Overall length - 16,6""
Blade length - 11,1"
Blade width - 2,2"
Thickness at the back of the spine - 5/16"
Tang is tapered to 3/32" at the end
Balance point is 2" in front of the handle

Knife itself weights 25,1oz, and with sheath it's 35,3oz

For handle material i used stabilized walnut, black G10 liners, brass pins and lanyard tube.

Handmade 13/64" thick vegetable leather sheath, made for right hand vertical carry.

Please check your mail. Thanks.

Replied. Looking forward to seeing your work in person. That tapered tang made it irresistible. I'm afraid my Junglas may get dusty...BTW, what does "Slavonishe" mean?

It's a joke. Slavonia is eastern Croatian region where i live.
I didn't get your reply. Please try again at

Thanks

I like it. This is the typical form of the Bulgarian shepherd knife /karakulak/. Including thickening for the finger from the bottom side.

Thank you. It's that form with some western influence. Feels great in hand :)

It's packed and ready to go.
Plank came from old barn i had to dismantle. Most of the planks were oak. I've used some to make a table and some decorative work. One of them was walnut, and i kept it for handle material (usable parts).
Besides nice wood, there was some wrought iron with cool, almost 3D grain pattern, now waiting to be used :)

Yeah...he said it was 100 years old, not 400. Next you'll be claiming the steel is from a WWII german tank...or Excaliber. ;)

Daado is a bad counter but excellent blacksmith and of course my frend .....just kidding

It would be a nice story :)
But the truth is, just a few guys, few beers, JCB backhoe and old barn.

Dalibor - another great knife!! Looks so comfortable, balanced, & mean - love it man.
Thank you.

Influence is rather from east. In this case - Turkey.
We can't avoid that :)

That's interesting. Funny the places we find what are now very scarce/expensive hardwoods. Re-claimed materials are popular here. If that old barn could have talked, I'd bet there would be a few good stories. Can you give some details on your heat treat? It sounds like this piece was built to perform well as a hard use chopper. BTW, thanks for shipping so quickly. :)
