Ah, good questions. I believe it is 420HC and the heat treat is by Buck as per the Paul Bos schedule. The 420HC knives were not marked. See below for more info.

Yes it would be 420HC. That is Bucks standard steel, 420HC is not stamped, however on upgraded steels like ATS34 it would be stamped as such. FYI Paul Bos was still at Buck when this knife was made he retired in 2010.
