Hey there everybody! For a while I've been wanting to make a replica of the iconic Western 49 Bowie. Finally got around to it with significant modifications, especially the extra long and extra bent brass guard, I dialed it back a lot.

The handle contours on this one are very different than the sharp angles on the original too, much more rounded. This is also significantly smaller and handier IMO than the original Bohemeth. Hope you like it!

Steel is 5/32” x 1 7 16” in NitroV with professional BOS HT at 60/61. Hand sanded to 1200 grit for a fine satin finish. The edge was about .012” before sharpening. Balance is just in front of the plunge.

Dimensions: 11 5/16” OAL, tip to guard is 6 5/8”

The Brass guard is finished to 2000 grit and buffed. The handle is Bubinga and Wenge with G10 spacers, finished to 1200 grit, then oiled and waxed. The handle feels great in my average sized hand with room to spare.

Thanks so much for looking and please feel free to ask anything here or via PM.

Back Story: In the early 80's or so my brother and I each got one and used them for years. Fast forward to the early 2000's and I'm going camping with 2 nephews and dabbling in knifemaking so when they were 10 or 12 years old I offered them each one of my knives. Well, one chose a decent knife I made and one chose the beat up old W49! He eventually got one of mine too but jeez!

All right Methuselah Methuselah I'm confused. This is not a factory blade so no factory markings? It's a tribute to the original iconic Bowie knife from the 60's and 70's era.
I'm sorry i mis read the post.

Part of me wants to replace a W 49 that i sold with the large all caps word : BOWIE: on the show side. w/ full factory convex grind My appologies,,,/..

It's a beauty..

forgive me that I read and scrolled to quickly.

Awesome, looks like the perfect size and captures the design elements of the original. Looks like a cross between a Buck 124 and the Western.
