I've got 5 pair of perfectly bookmatched curly French boxwood scales -- the curl is extremely 3D on these, shifting dramatically with changing angles of view (it's not subtle at all), so what you see in the scans below is only a vague idea of how great they look in person -- the curl also goes all the way thru each scale front to back. Pretty much all the darker areas you see are curl - this wood is otherwise an even creamy yellow; even the areas that don't show up on the scans as curly have chatoyance. These were dry when I got them and I've had them at least 7 years. Very dense, hard, stable, super fine grained wood. All of these scales are just a hair over 3/8" thick. (The ends were sealed with Anchorseal - so you'll see some wax here and there on these.)
