This OG Custom Shop Game Warden has, hands down, the best-matched set of natural scales from Busse I’ve ever owned in over 25 years of buying their knives. It’s some kind of black horn, and it’s spectacular! The horn is so symmetrical you might mistake it for a synthetic, but there are a couple of small ridges where you can pick up just a hint of paler horn color, almost translucent. The texture in terms of feel and grip is superb!
The blade is a beefy 3/16” thick at the tang. The hand-applied satin finish shows some carry and light use, which has left a number of fine, hairline surface scratches visible in just the right light. I’m not a good enough photographer to capture these. Could use a good buffing and stropping, although it has a decent working edge right now. No sheath, although I do have a tan Danny-the-Bull pouch that fits it—could let that go for an addl $30.
