Blade length: 3 1/4"
Overall length: 7 1/4"
Thickness in ricasso: .106"
Thickness just in front of plunge line: .083"
Heat Treat: Paul Bos for 61 RC.

Handle: copper pins, richlite composite, G/Flex epoxy. Sanded to 800 grit, then hand burnished with a white Scotchbrite.

Issues: As the pictures indicate, the sheath is not pretty. On the blade there are some scratches and imperfections. The plunge lines I bungled.

The left hand bevel looks smudged. I will clean off that smudge with acetone.

As an EDC, it will still work great in spite of the flaws. The handle shaping gives both comfort and control.

This knife has been sold for $45 TYD via priority shipping in USA. For other destinations, you pay any additional shipping cost, plus a handling fee for my trip to the Post Office. I prefer PayPal.

This is my first exposure to working with Richlite. I did some googling on it, and found no negative remarks. I imagine it behaves a lot like micarta. If you have any experience with it, please post.

A quote from Richlite Web page:
"Handmade from many layers of high quality custom craft paper, Richlite’s surface texture comes from the natural variation in the way fibers lay within the paper. Composed of approximately 65% FSC®-certified or recycled paper content and 35% phenolic resin, Richlite’s color comes from a combination of the paper and the amber tone of the resin."

Sorry to “chat,” but very nice design and materials. That price can’t be beat. I doubt I could make the same for that price in materials alone, never mind the effort and time it took to make. Well done.

Do you think this knife would fit in Bradford Guardian 3 leather sheath??? Looks about the right size in general and width at top of handle. And Did you have any problems with the 80crV2? I've heard it can sometimes be difficult and certain problems may arise when making blades out of it. On the other hand I've Also heard it's a great steel for blades.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I would estimate $35 for materials, $10 for heat treatment, $7 for shipping. Total: $52. So yes, I worked without pay on this one.

This steel is picking up popularity. I just recently started using my 2X42 grinder whereas before, I was hand filing. Also, this is my first batch of 80CrV2. When grinding on the 2X42 grinder, I only have CPM 154 to compare. 80Crv2 is easer to grind. No problems grinding it, once I got the hang of it. I grind before heat treatment, btw. Also, it takes a hell of a lot more time to hand sand CPM154 after heat treat.

I have never handled a Guardian 3 or its leather sheath, so I can't help you with that question. But thanks for asking.

Yes I will buy it, payment will be sent shortly.
Address?

I tried sending you a message here on BF. It would not work. It said "You may not start a conversation with this participant."

Could you try sending me a message to maybe give me your email address?

Got it.

That's because LG&M isn't a paying member so doesn't have access to the messaging system in the forum. Posting to their profile or working through email is how you are able to communicate away from threads with non-paying bladeforum members.
