Bought this in December and have used it about 10 times. It is an amazing sharpening kit but I recently picked up a belt grinder and plan on using it to sharpen my knives going forward. This comes from Chefknivestogo and sold for $305. The blue tape on the Edge Pro is worn but that is easily replaced.

Hi,
I am torn between new Edge Pro, belt grinder or paper wheel system with rouge on regular 8" electric grinder for sharpening my kitchen, work and and EDC knifes. Since I read that you switched, I am certain I can get am impartial opinion from you. Why did you switch to a belt system? Which belt system did you select and what do you think now that you have used both? What sort of implements were you sharpening primarily. What would you reccomend I get as I only sharpen knifes no razors for shaving.
Thanks,
The Seeker

You can search this topic as it has been covered extensively. I have a Wicked edge, paper wheels, a belt grinder and a tormek as well as some expensive waterstones for hand sharpening. Each has its pros and cons. I absolutely love the stupid sharp and mirrored edges I get with the wicked edge, that said the most versatile is the belt grinder a handful of different grit belts and a leather belt with some compound. You can easily maintain your kitchen, work and EDC knives as well as do your mower blades, most hedge trimmers and a ton more. The paper wheels take a bit of a learning curve but once mastered they are fast but a small yip and you have a serious uneven bevel. Get something cuz ya gotta start somewhere.
