The knife is hand stamped 118, one number at a time, on one side and BUCK w/two dots on the other. The handle is black Lucite with a single white stripe. At ten inches, it's unusually long compared to later 118s. The blade is nearly six inches long.
The hatchet has the same Lucite handle and is beautifully crafted. BUCK LIFETIME is stamped on one side.
The sheath has seen better days, but it did its job valiantly. The knife and hatchet are in beautiful condition. The leather is dry and cracked, but one can still make out the stamp. It reads BUCK KNIFE CO, 1272 MORENA, SAN DIEGO CA. (The house where Hoyt started making knives under the name Buck knife Co. In the 40s.)
This is very likely a once-in-a-lifetime chance for someone else to own these rare pieces of Buck Knife history. I hate to let them go, but it's time. I'm asking only $1680 for the set. That price includes USPS Priority shipping, signature upon delivery, $2000 insurance (which is closer to the actual value), and any other fees.
PayPal only. Price is for shipping to USA & territories only.
Please message me with any questions. The ad in the pics is from the Buck 1949 catalog.SOLD!
