VIDEO IN THE END OF THE THREAD
THIS ONE IS SOLD - last day of the offer for this knife HERE
Hey guys!
As the handles are part of a knife that can hold a lot of personality, i want to make a test and see how it goes by offering a finished blade ready for a handle that will be designed from zero by whoever has interest taking it.
The blade is the result of a few years studying very deeply the art of hamon polishing and as expected, i had to find this knowledge in the swordsmithing world.
Im pleased to say that after many hours of hand polishing and using a lot of techniques including polishing pastes done with iron oxides (like kanahada), i finally got closer to the look i want into my honyaki blades similar to the traditional katanas.
Still a long road of mastering to the point i want to reach, but im very pleased with the result.
As most of the hamons, pictures dont do its justice, very tricky to get all the chatoyant effect of the polishing by a camera.
The hamon has a milky look in its hardened zone while having a deeper, darker and "mirrored" finish in the unhardened part of the blade. This was done in a very complex method of working on the grain of the steel and using the correct progression of abrasives and polishing method.

SPECS:
This knife has 165mm of blade (around 6,5 inches) and 70 grams overall, you can expect it to be around 110~130 of overall weight after handle.
It has 3mm at the thickest point and has a really aggressive grind. This being said, the knife is rigid and doesnt flex. It is 1095 heat treated to 61hrc.
Hand sharpened and polished to 2000 grit, it will cut paper towel like a laser and pretty much any other test you would like to do like razor sharp or tomato.
It has a solid and thick tang, meant to offer the knife a good structure for being daily used.
NEEDLESS to say the patina that build up in this blade will be oustanding by itself, if you manage to make some blue and purple colors it will be definitely pleasing to see.
