EDIT: LAST HOURS FOR THE KINGWOOD SAYA OFFER IN THE COMMENTS SECTION BELOW
EDIT2: SOLD

Hey guys! Since i have been extremely short on time it has been really challenging for me to work on bigger blades, sorry for not taking orders recently on these bad boys but im really happy to be able to finish this one.

I started it on December and since then it was sitting on my workshop asking for a handle and finish.

Lets start with its geometry!

Needless to say that 171 grams is an unbelievable weight considering a thick spine and a 270mm blade. The distal taper and overall grind on this knife was definitely one of my best.

This knife is a slightly modified version of the traditional sujihiki. In my version of it, i did the edge flatter than the traditional, meant to offer you a nice all around use and still perform amazingly in all kind of meats. The first 5" of the blade will contact the board perfectly flat, while the rest have a very smooth belly towards the spine which will slice meat like a scimitar.

Its handle is something that really reminds me a "space view" from a desert contacting ocean. I really LOVE how it does look and how the blue really pops out in the build. It is made out of stabilized dyed maple with an ebony core.

Now to my favorite part

b8.jpg

Its geometry features an extremely acute convex grind that will slice food, mostly meat like NOTHING. Salmon, steak, barbecue, veggies, this blade will handle all pretty much nice. This being said, its grind will be really exceptional on meats.

While the blade is giant, it is completely well centered and flat.

Both spine and choil are rounded, spine is polished which gives it an extremely sexy look.

Satisfaction guaranteed, this blade will definitely impress you once you feel how light and well balanced it is given the size.

270mm blade length
45mm wide at the heel
3,2mm thickest point
Sandvik 14C28N steel - Same composition of AEBL - i consider both to be the stainless version of 52100 - they have an extremely fine grain and REALLY really tough (even at 60~61hrc)

Delivered in a nice zipped pouch

Ive always considered 14c28n to be an ideal steel for kitchen knives & wondered why I'm not seeing it more often. Nice work.

Totally agree with you. 14C28N has been surprising me extremely well specially in terms of toughness. It doesnt have the edge retention of magnacut but with very aggressive grind it doesnt stays too much behind. Thanks for enjoying it

NEW OFFER MENTIONED IN THE THREAD:

If this knife sells before thursday, the owner will receive a kingwood wooden saya for it.

I just realized i have never done a saya for such long knife, i bet that the kingwood grain will look amazing.

That is something i definitely have interest in adding to my portfolio.

The owner will be able to choose a matching handle out of kingwood as well.

Pictures below of a set recently finished as example.

As some you know, kingwood is one of the most exotic and heaviest woods in the planet, its as hard and dense as ebony and average ironwood. Smells nice and has definitely an one-of-a-kind pattern that can be spotted miles away.
