Hello Gang,
I just wanted to give you a quick review of Jair's knife. I am really impressed for several reasons. First, the knife arrived from Brazil in less than a week via FEDEX...superb!! Second, the knife is beautifully made. The bladework, grind lines, plunge grind are excellent, if not computer aided machine perfect. The edge was -sharp- right out of the box and the blade tip is a fine point showing considerable skill in the work. Blade taper begins at the harpoon point; the swedge is not sharpened, but taken down just short of sharp. Hilt very nicely done in stainless as is the butt cap. Very nice ribbed stag which, in my opinion, could have been a bit thicker/fuller to fill the hand better in support of the blade [and overall] heaviness of the knife, which weighs in at a substantial 18.6oz. This bowie is more a chopper than a fighter. The belt sheath is very nicely crafted and tooled leather. All in all a superb package--a knife crafted at the J.S. level in my opinion. Just my thoughts....
