Here is a little knife that a person could carry just about anywhere and not offend some folks.
Stock removal from 52100 high carbon steel
Heat treated in my Evenheat furnace with three normalizing and two tempering cycles to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain structure throughout the blade
Flat grind with a 400 grit belt finish
Stabilized cherry burl handle. In the photos you will see some checking that has been filled with the stabilizing process. This happens with burls a lot but just be aware that they exist.
Overall length: 7 1/4 inches
Blade: 3 1/4 inch blade
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry

Fine size for most anything besides clearing brush. I bet one's thumb would ease right into that nicely curved spot on the spine just ahead of the scales and make a secure full grip with the heel of the hand on that area you flattened there at the back. Almost like you planned it that way. 😁
