Hi guys,
Another cool piece of history here...
This one is forged from turret rim ball bearing of M18 "Hellcat", and i've tried to forge it to fit in Bird 'n trout design, with nice but simple horizontal carry sheath.

It's covered in this thread:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...12508-Hellcats

Blade is treated as 52100.
Flats are left raw, just soaked overnight in vinegar and wire brushed after forging. After heat treatment, flats are brushed with scotch brite.
Bevels are made in satin finish with scotch brite.

Details:

Overall length - 7 [SUP]3/4[/SUP]"
Blade length - 3 [SUP]5/32[/SUP]"
Blade width - 1"
Thickness at the back of the spine - 5/32"
Tang is tapered to 3/64" at the end

Knife itself weights 3,5 oz, and with sheath it's 7,8 oz

For handle material i used walnut ,black G10 liners, brass pins and lanyard tube.
Handmade 13/64" thick vegetable leather sheath in light brown color, made for horizontal carry.

I got my piece from Daado in the mail yesterday. Best value on Bladeforums. Nicer than knives I've paid 3 times as much for.

Ditto I also received a knife from Daado on Saturday. Different model than the bird and trout. Workmanship is stellar and the value for what you get is mind blowing. Great guy to deal with and builds a beautiful knife. If I was not waiting on something else from him I would have bought this one too. Bob

I will 'third' the sentiment... This man's knives are very well built & a fantastic value, esp. considering the historical/militaristic value in what is already one of my favorite knife steels, 52100. A final point, he has evolved into a better knife designer in a short period of time....he offers better geometries & more purposefully built models now, but his $$ haven't gone crazy. And his buyer gets a tapered tang for perfect balance, a liner for added aesthetics, & a great leather sheath, in this case a horz carry - bravo!

Many thanks for kind words and support.
Much appreciated.

i'll pile on.....great knives, sheaths and a great guy! imho you need to get a makers mark on these beauties so their identities are not lost in the future. even scribing it in the blade would be cool.

Thanks Steve. Makers mark is on it's way. Should be here in a week :)

You had me at "Hellcat", I'll take it. :)

Please check your mail.
Thanks.

Oh well, I'm piling on to. Fantastic workmanship, Bang-for-buck!
Have a Hellcat myself. When I saw it, I had to have it. My first ever fixed blade purchased.
