Always admired John Cahoon's work and wanted to give it a try. This was no disappointment and is an eye-catcher.
Here's what he says about it:
"Hey there everybody! I have handy hunter skinner up today. Should be very robust and versatile. Hope you like it!
Steel is 5/32” x 1 1/2” in NitroV with HT at 60/61 with a tapered tang. Hand sanded to 600 grit for a fine satin finish. The edge was about .012” before sharpening and it balances on the first pin.
Dimensions: 8 1/2”” OAL, Tip to Scales 4 1/4”
Black Diamond and Browns Point Richlite scaled are finished to 1200 grit. Accented by red fiber liners. Features stainless tube and brass pins. The slender handle feels great in my average sized hand."
It is quite a piece and a bit to purty for me to use, although i did slice a receipt paper and it was like a laser going through.
Besides that, it's new and ready to go. I'm a lefty and John was kind enough to make me a lefty and ship the right handed one as well.
He did remove some of the flat area by the guard of his original design and round it out per request. It's a super comfy grip for sure.
