***SOLD***
Selling as a lot - a library of four of the best references to Japanese swords - from their history, historical examples, details and terminology, and all the bits and pieces -- to the making of the swords themselves in the traditional manner with their related hardware and polishing. All are hardback volumes in perfect shape -- the only wear on any of them is a tiny bit of wear to the dust covers.
The Arts of the Japanese Sword by B.W. Robinson - long out of print (this one is from the 1978 printing), one of the great reference books on Japanese swords. Covers a lot of ground in a relatively compact volume - many images of a wide range of swords and fittings across a number of eras and lots of fundamental info on markings and historical styles across the eras.
The Craft of the Japanese Sword by Leon Kapp, Hiroko Kapp, and Yoshindo Yoshihara - 167 pages. Great illustrated guide with separate sections detailing the traditional techniques and tools of forging a Japanese sword, polishing it, making the habaki, and creating a shira-zaya ("white scabbard").
The Connoisseur's Book Of Japanese Swords by Kokan Nagayama - 355 pages. Thoroughly covers the history of the Japanese sword - smiths, historically significant features and changes thru time in the various eras, terminology, and on and on.
The Japanese Sword: A Comprehensive Guide by Kanzan Sato - 210 pages. Great book for images of not just the swords, but lots of images of their fittings and hardware.
Asking $70 for the whole lot of four books (way less than the Robinson book by itself would cost you thru Amazon) -- PayPal only - fee included; USPS Priority Mail included - US only.
