For sale is this KME Sharpening System, lightly used and in excellent condition, with a lot of nice extras. In addition to basic kit, I've got the following:- A set of four KME kangaroo leather strops with CBN emulsions: 4.0 micron (4,000 grit), 1.5 micron (13,000 grit), 0.5 micron (60,000 grit), and 0.1 micron (160,000 grit). Each 7-gram bottle of emulsion is almost full, having been applied to the corresponding strop just a couple of times. The strops are also in good shape, with two of 'em having a few small nicks, but that's it.
- In addition to the standard 140 grit, 300 grit, 600 grit, and 1500 grit diamond stones (which are new and only used for four to five sharpenings), I also have:
- The "Beast" - 50 grit, which makes short work of reprofiling
- A 100 grit for an intermediate step between the Beast and the 140 grit stone
- A set of three Gritomatic strops that the original owner included. There must have been some kind of CBN paste that was applied on these pretty heavily, most of which I scraped off during some sharpenings. These are actually in good shape, but I decided to start from scratch and ended up getting the KME strops and CBN emulsion listed above.
- Diamond rod for serrated blades
- An ergonomic handle for the rod thingy
- Wooden base
The standard KME kit goes for about $200 these days, and the strops and emulsion 8-piece kit costs $139 new. The "Beast" goes for $25. All things considered, I think this is an outstanding price for everything I've got here, all very lightly used.
