Supercurly bookmatched Koa scales - I've had these 6 to 8 years, and they were dry when I got them. The curl goes throughout each piece - the backs are just as curly as the fronts. These scales have simply been cut -- they have not even been sanded; there is nothing on them, you're seeing the raw wood, not tarted up in any way -- sorry, they're not stabilized either. The darker stripe across the middle of most of them was where they were taped together with some masking tape for some years. The scans are pretty consistent - the colors are fairly accurate, just a couple shades too light (the actual scales are darker, more saturated in color). The black on the scales is a bit of surface scorch from sawing - none of these have any spalting. All scales are 3/8" thick.
