Up for sale is this modified Imacasa model #800-12
Modifications include:
~Extending edge to base of blade
~Convexing/Polishing edge
~Rounding spine at the point for batoning (Yes--it will hold up to it!)
~Squaring the spine at the base for firesteel striking
~Grinding/sharpening stamped "saw back"--it's a real cross-cut saw now!
~Dressing of spine inside bottle opener and pot-lifter notch.
Blade Length: 12"
Handle Length: 6"
Balance Point: 2" forward of ricasso
This piece would make a great general camping or housework knife, and is sure to stir up memories with folks who ever owned one of those silly Aitor "survival knives." The great news is that this piece is both strong and functional. Now hollow handle crap--the handle is injection molded to a nice sturdy tang. The saw back was sharpened by yours truly (it came rough-stamped from the factory) and performs well for a saw with un-set teeth. The edge is a high, thin convex that cuts beautiful curls on wood, and the rounded spine at the tip allows for batoning (try that with an Aitor!
) without chewing up the baton too badly. The pot lifter hook works as a nice scribe for marking rings on branches you wish to notch with the saw. The squared spine at the base throws nice sparks on a fire steel as well. A factory green canvas sheath is included.
Asking $30 plus shipping[/color] which would be about $5 CONUS.
I accept payment via PayPal, money order, or personal check. If paying by PayPal don't worry about compensating for processing fees--that's on my bill, not yours. Item typically ships same or next business day that payment is received, so if paying by check or money order please allow time for funds to make it to me.
Now on to the pictures!
