^THIS! Awesome work.

Guilherme Mantovani Guilherme Mantovani : Do you use old/stabilized antler?
(Fresher antler material tends shrink more over time)
This antler was buyed a year and half ago and was collected, not hunted. So, this piece was cut this size in that time. When I drill it, I noted it was very dry… I think the shrink is not a problem. What do you think?
Thanks for you comment.

I've read Axis deer horns are a good choice for knife handles. They tend to set naturally within 2-3 years. But they can be treated (no clue how) to stabilized them much quicker. Some people even manage to straighten them if need be. Your knife looks really good.

I have a friend who estabilize woods. He use a oven in 35oC for couple weeks until the weight doesn’t change anymore. Then he put in vacum chamber with resin. I think the drying process will be the same, but no clue how finish the process in horns or antlers. Straighten and make flat scale would be a great knowledge to me. I really like this material.
Thank you my friend.
