Greetings all,

Offered for sale is an exceptional fighter by the uber-talented Nick Wheeler. You may recall the blade as the subject of an epic Wheeler WIP thread, entitled 'Hey, why is your clay-hardened blade so much $$$?'

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/765305-Hey-why-is-your-clay-hardened-blade-so-much

That question was quite conclusively answered and the resulting thread provides as much detailed info on a knife you own as you might conceivably hope to obtain.

But here are a few key specs in summary form:

9" blade of W2
14 1/4" OAL
1 7/8" at its widest
Ironwood handle and stainless double-guard with copper spacers.
Paul Long did an extra nice job on the sheath - not just in execution, but in selecting shades and tones that perfectly match those of the lighter ironwood handle.

And now onto the knife itself:

There can be no doubt that the significant - even obsessive - level of effort Nick put into this knife resulted in a a spactacularly impressive multidimensional Fogg-like hamon.

I am pleased to be able to report that it looks every bit as good in person, and delighted that Coop was able to capture it so well in the photo. This photo from Nick's WIP isn't half bad either.

Notwithstanding that this is a large blade, the feel is wonderfully balanced and fighter-fast.

And as an added bit of provenance for a blade that hardly needs it, this piece is pictured in the

Nick's price on this piece at the 2010 San Antonio Show was $1250, sans sheath.

It is offered here at US$OLD which price is INCLUSIVE of the first rate (is there any other kind?) Paul Long sheath, padded case, Paypal fees (by far the preferred payment method) AND shipping to your US or Canadian address. Overseas shipping to a fellow forum member can be arranged, but will be at addtional and actual cost, and is pricey.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, but the first "I'll take it!" by e-mail or PM will get this terrific piece.

Thanks for looking.

This sentence is unfinished in your post: "And as an added bit of provenance for a blade that hardly needs it, this piece is pictured in the . . ."

Balislinger... pictured in the Knives 2012 annual, at p. 70 - thanks.

Michael - thanks, I forgot to add in that it was a 2010 Best Bowie finalist.

It was also in the ABS journal... Not that I'm keeping track or anything. :p ;)

FWIW- This isn't the fanciest knife I've ever made, but it's certainly one of my personal favorites. :)

That's quite a knife... I'd like to buy it. PM sent.

The design is classic, and perfect. Blade shape, guard, handle, Ironwood!... and most of all, the wispy Ashi ... almost 3D. Wonderful.
