Here's an absolutely GORGEOUS full custom folder from Patrick Nihiser.
Nihiser won the Best New Maker at Blade Show 2001.
I got to know him a bit and asked him to make me several custom pieces. This one is the very best of them and is stunning!
I just could never bring myself to using it and it has been in a padded storage case for the past 20 years.
The fit and finish on this folder is outstanding. A TON of time went into this knife. Beautiful filework on liners and backspacer. Flawless Anodizing. In hand feel is superb. Locks up tight with no blade play. Blade is centered.
Model : U-PN
Blade : ATS-34
Grind : Hollow
Top Edge : False Edge with Jimping
Handle Slabs : Mammoth or Oosic (can't recall which. Either way, they are fantastic)
Bolsters : Gold Mokume
End Caps : Gold Mokume
Hardware : Gold Plated Screws (If memory serves)
Liners : Fully Fileworked and Anodized Purple Stainless Steel (again, if memory serves)
Backspacer : Fully Fileworked and Anodized Gold Stainless Steel (see above)
Thumbstud : Synthetic Stone (Zirconia?)
Lock Type : Liner Lock
OAL : 8 3/4" Approx.
Sharpened Blade length : 3 1/4" Approx.
Full Blade Length : 3 3/4" Approx.
Closed : 5" Approx.
Comes in Felt Pouch
Unfortunately, Patrick was only around for a few years, made some customs, had a collaboration or two for mass production and the vanished from what I can tell. It's a shame, because he is seriously talented. If this knife was made by one of the well known makers, it would easily be a $1500 piece. New owner will be amazed at the quality for the price. I will likely kick myself for letting it go.
Knife is absolutely brand new. Only opened a handful of times in 20 years. Never used, nor carried. Shadowing on slabs is just the photo. They are fantastic.
Going to let this go for SOLD Shipped PP G&S or USPS Money Order, only.
No trades, please.
