Changed gears a little for this one. I have always admired this style and have wanted to try my hand at one for a number of years. This is a modest sized Bowie at 10-3/4" overall, with a 5-5/8" blade of .170" A2 tool steel (digital oven HT, dry ice cryo and 2x temper). Guard and pins are brass. Scales are ironwood and are not bookmatched. Balances at the 2nd row of pins behind the guard.
Fit and finish on this one is good but not perfect, it has 2 minor cosmetic issues which I will list in the interest of full disclosure: One of the scale pins does not show as a full circle, it appears to have been notched by diagonal cutters and the notch ended up exposed at the surface after final finishing as 2 flat spots on the outside edge; The fit between the scales and guard has some colored epoxy fill which is not obvious but is visible under close inspection. Both issues are relatiely minor but make this piece more suitible for an entry level collector, kit item, or just a user with classic styling, than for a seasoned collector. I have priced it accordingly and will return the buyer's money in the event that they are not satisfied.
Comes with a welted heavy leather sheath with belt loop and Sam Brown style stud/ strap. My leatherwork is perhaps a little underwhelming in the looks department but is sturdy and functional.
