An interesting Tim Lively hand forged small axe/tomahawk - I've had this one for about 6 years or so (not sure exactly when it was made - has the -LIVELY- mark on the top edge of the head) -- never used, never sharpened. Has a 15 3/8" straight octagonal hickory handle that is about 1" in diameter (measured flat to flat) with steel wire reinforcement wrapping (embedded in pitch) above and below the head and near the butt of the handle. The head is about 4 9/16" long from the handle to the center of the edge, and the edge is about 2 5/8" from toe to heel. The head is just over 1/4" thick and about 1 3/16" wide at the handle - where it is morticed thru the handle (the "poll" is flush with the other side of the handle and about 1/2" wide) - apparently set in pitch also and secured with a 3/16" brass pin. The head is nicely forged to shape convexed starting about two inches out from the handle down to the edge. Balance point is about a half inch below the steel wrapping below the head. I think it is 5160 steel, but I don't know this for sure.
***SOLD PENDING FUNDS *** Asking $100 (was $110) - PayPal only - fee included; USPS Priority Mail included - CONUS only.
These blue background images are from the seller I bought this axe from - I don't have a camera, so I'm adding these to give you the overall picture (colors are WAY off with these - see my scans above for the accurate colors):
