This one is forged to shape from old rasp/file combo, and differential heat treated with clay.
I made it with minimum grinding. It feels great in hand and looks (at least to me) totally bad-ass.
There is vinegar etched, nice and subtle hamon, but i can't catch it with my phone camera.
Guard is forged and polished with hammer marks. Flats are left raw, with teeth marks. Overnight soaked in vinegar and wire brushed after forging.
Bevels are finished with 1500 grit and steel wool.
For handle material i used nice piece of deer antler. Antler soft parts are sealed with epoxy resin. Brass pins and tube are secured with epoxy and hammered with visible hammer marks.
Details:
Overall length - 15,5""
Blade length - 9[SUP]1/4[/SUP]"
Blade width - 1,6"
Thickness at the back of the spine - 13/64"
Tang is tapered to 1/16" at the end
Balance point is 1,5" in front of the handle
Knife itself weights 16,5oz, and with sheath it's 23,1oz
For handle material i used deer antler, black G10 liners, brass pins and lanyard tube.
Handmade 13/64" thick vegetable leather sheath, made for right hand vertical carry.
Asking SOLD, priority shipping with tracking number included
