In the first go-round RJ built this Q36 with OD Canvas Micarta scales and M4, (more wear resistant, sharper, tougher than S30V, but very, very hard to work with), blade steel. He doesn't envision using it again.
The original owner used it, like we all should, but the M4 became a little stained, as can happen with this steel......It went back to RJ and he completely redid/refurbished it.
That includes regrinding, resharpening and polishing the blade. He put on a brand new clip, and replaced the old OD micarta scales with contoured Lightning Strike carbon fiber scales. He re-examined the lock up and detent, and refurbished the bolsters.......
Voila, a brand new knife whose action is like a rocket, (the detent is just right, not as strong/tight as some of RJ's knives can be), the lock up is as solid as it gets, no lateral blade play, blade is dead center and sharper than what you shaved with this morning.
I have never used or carried it since it's return from RJ.
As far as I know he has never made another Q with M4, so in essence this is sort of a one off.
Blade: 37/8" M4 steel.....Closed: 8 7/8"......OAL: 8 7/8".....Bolsters: Polished Orange Peel Ti......Scales: Contoured Lightning Strike Carbon Fiber.....Blasted thick Ti liners.....Clip: Blasted Ti, positioned for Tip Up carry.....Back-strap: Three Ti stand-offs....Lanyard hole.
