Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend so far! Got a user on the chopping block today that I'm open to offers on.
STORY/CONDITION: I'm not the original owner and it has been registered by previous owner, so no warranty. The original owner modified the tip to increase piercing ability (?). He did a good job, but there's a scratch on one side of it. The blade has a couple lite, surface scratches throughout, though they are challenging to capture on camera, and there's a blemish on the top of the presentation scale. I have sharpened it on a Precision Adjustable WS and have maintained it with a strop. There is lateral blade play and as much as I've tried to reassemble it, I cannot seem to remedy it. There appears to be a very, very small gap between the clip-side scale and part of the washer. You can also tell by the pics that it favors the presentation side, but does not rub against the scale. The action is smooth and it will drop shut part way when the lockbar is released. I've contacted Rockstead and they offered to fix the blade-play/centering + return shipping for 15,000 JPY, which equates to about $99 (when I checked it during this post). I asked if they could ship a set of washers for it and they quoted me 4,500 JPY (roughly $25 for shipping and $5 for the washers). I have email communications if you're interested. The reason I'm selling it is simply because it's not one that makes it into my regular rotation. Even with the blade play, using it to cut up carboard or food prep was never an issue. My asking price reflects a deduction taking into consideration of its new owner wanting Rockstead to repair it: cost of shipping to Japan ($25 - $30) + cost of repair/return shipping (~$100).
