Hi all,
I've been wanting to finish up this blade for some time now. I got the San Mai billet a while back from Randy Haas. It's Hitachi Blue #2 core in a stainless jacket heat treated by Peter's to RC 63. The handle is some very beautiful Silky Oak. It has a unique chatoyance that I've only rarely seen. The ferrule is African Blackwood and the spacers are black paper micarta and copper.
Specs:
OAL:
12"
Blade: 6" long, 1.5" heel height, full flat grind with full distal taper, 1200 grit hand sanded finish, etched in FeCl and then instant coffee. Spine and choil rounded for comfort.
Steel: 0.125" Hitachi Blue #2 and stainless steel San Mai from Randy Haas of HHH knives. Heat treated by Peter's to RC63.
Handle: Stabilized Silky Oak and African Blackwood with black paper micarta and copper spacers. Textured copper cap.
$390 Shipped CONUS, international buyers welcome shipping extra.
