Hi Folks
Here is the twin of the previous Sgian Dubh I posted
My take on a traditional Scottish Sgian Dubh - the 'Scavaig'. This rustic beauty has been crafted with a brass bolster that is solid (not a ferrule) and a stabilized Bog Oak handle centre thatis between 2000 and 5000 years old. The Pommel is stabilized wine barrel Oak that has been flamed with a fine mosaic pin. Stabilized wood has been impregnated with a hard resin that provides a degree of water resistance but is also far less likely to crack or warp. This traditional blade also features filework on the spine and a main pin in the handle that has been peened, domed and polished to a satin sheen. The sheath is also 100% handmade in-house with saddle stitching and toolwork.
BALETA Handmade Sgian Dubhs make use of high quality materials sourced from around the world and are all hand crafted with superb fit and finish. They are completely functional (sharp!) and built to last. If looked after, they will easily provide a lifetime of use and you'll be able to proudly pass it on for future generations to enjoy.
- Blade thickness: 3.7mm (0.145")
- Blade length: 98mm (3.86")
- Overall length: 201mm (7.9")
- Weight without sheath: 116g (4oz)
- Weight with sheath: 146g (5.1oz)
- Handle material: Brass bolster, stabilized Bog Oak with stabilized and flamed wine barrel Oak pommel.
- Fittings: Mosaic pin in pommel and peened main pin.
- Traditional hidden tang design. Comes with a custom fitted sheath as seen.
