Please read the whole post.
Putting up for sale a knife that I was going to make a project out of.
Spyderco Catcherman. FRN handles and a AUS8 blade.
These are pretty cool. Kind of a “Folding Fillet” style knife.
Knife is not perfect. But it’s a good specimen overall. The serrations need some fixing and the original FRN clip is gone.
The previous owner tried sharpening the serrations to no avail. They are a little buggered up. I will include a picture. If you have the tools and can sharpen serrations by hand then this is correctable.
I was going to just send it to Spyderco to fix the serrations. Spyderco will fix serrations, even regrind them, for $25.
The original integral FRN clip was also not there when I got it, which is super common on these older Spyderco knives. It’s almost impossible to tell that it is missing though. There is a very small “void” where the clip was broken off but it’s very shallow and the rest of it seems to have been sanded down and is honestly textured well and almost indistinguishable from the factory texture on the surrounding FRN.
If you want a clip installed Spyderco will also fix this for $25 by putting on a modern metal clip with the metal inserts in the FRN and screws just like a Delica, Endura, etc.
I personally like it how it is currently and wouldn’t even touch it though.
Other than that she’s a good old girl.
The straight part of the blade is sharp enough to shave hair. Opens and closes sloothly. Overall perfectly usable in its current condition.
In reality It can be used as-is.
Now on to the nitty gritty.
Standard “I’ll take it” on here followed by a PM, then followed by payment gets it.
Pricing on this is weird, no real examples I can find being sold recently.
I’m asking $OLD TYD, CONUS only.
