This is an almost new (but modified) Spyderco Phoenix.
i really like the overall lines of the knife, but REALLY didn't care for the white micarta handles at all (and like most people, i didn't like the sharper rear point on the base of the handle either).
so i sent this one to Philip Dobson to swap out the handles. we put on 'Lightning-Strike' Carbon Fiber handles. i think it looks A LOT better this way than with the white
. i also had him slightly blunt the back tip of the handle to make it a more comfortable hold. that's not so much a visual difference as a comfort in holding it difference. check out a stock pic with the white handles and you'll see what i mean, pretty minimal, but much more comfortable - got the idea from the spyderco forums.
like most of my knives, it was a pocket carry for a couple days, never cut anything other than paper, then went back into it's box. i have a real knife problem that way. now i'm selling this one to fund other knife purchases so i can do the same thing with them all over again. i think my wife is going to kill me in my sleep one of these days.
still has the razor sharp factory edge, untouched.
full disclosure on condition, somehow in those couple days of pocket carry, i put a little 1mm ding at the base of the titanium handle right near the ball lock. i tried to get a close up pic, because it's the only thing that makes this knife not a BNIB quality knife. it's about a millimeter long, and i can't feel it by touch, but you can definitely see it when you look. blade is centered, action is smooth and solid. lockup is rock solid.
The Phoenix is out of production, and can be work to find. The upgrades ran another $60-65. this be a good deal....
SOLD $200 (includes shipping in CONUS, paypal fees are on me)
first 'i'll take it' gets it. thanks for looking, email or pm me if you have any questions.
