The Rat Hunter is SR-101, Swamp Rat's name for 52100 with their proprietary heat treat. It's a great steel IMO and that knife is pretty cool. I used to have one.

Re whether the knife is sterile or not, I can't see the other side, but my guess is that it is indeed sterile. Busse and kin knives tend to have markings on the left side of the blade near the ricasso, which the OP's pic appears to show.

Thanks, that’s what I thought, it’s a sweet little knife. I really like the look of the Weiler handles, but I’ve never had nor held one… yet!
