These are knives I made for C chugokujin

I am starting this thread for two reasons, firstly so that Chugokujin can post in here with a token "I'll take them", thus giving us both access to the forum community as a tool of accountability, and secondly to show my work, and hopefully garner some more interest from others.

Thanks for looking!

Hi TDog1, thanks for the question. I tried to PM, but I guess I am not able to. I have asked Chugo if he minds my disclosing the details of his purchase in the public thread, and he green lit me, so:

For my large knives, ideally I hope to sell them for $[redacted!]. At this price, I can still afford the materials, the heat treat, and the belts, and have enough left over to feed Smokey his favourite cat food (Special Kitty Salmon Dinner).

Chugo hired me to do these two after he saw my "Big User machetes" thread and took a liking to the hawkbill. I was going to ask $[redacted!] per hawkbill for him, but to show some appreciation for the work, I gave him a pretty big discount on the second one, since he was interested in commissioning two at once - and at the time I had enough materials in stock to complete his order without ordering anything else.

He went with a different style of hawkbill than the pic in that thread after I showed him the first hawkbill machete I made for a good friend and coworker.

The one above has a 14" blade, and belongs to Jordan now. I miss it from time to time, but I guess that's why I keep making more of them!

Thanks for asking!

And if I may ask you, what style of machete are you most fond of? I like hawkbills, and have a couple more hawkbills of slightly different design in the works, but I also like kukri style blades, and I have a very large elongated kukri/sirupati machete in the works as we speak. I'm especially excited for this one. But I sometimes think I am crazy for making hawkbill machetes, like "who in the world wants one of those"? Well now I guess at least two people, haha!

It's a really nice design and I cannot wait till they arrive. Have played with quite a few Hawk/ claw/ seax types whaever you wanna call them. Without even handling them yet, I can tell David put a lot of thought into these and they even look well balanced as I told him.

David, thanks again for the package deal.

What's the handle length?
A HUGE kudos to David for asking hand measurements.
I always thought it a good thing most don't are time to ask in custom circles. This was a truly Very custom IMO

Thank you David for taking the time to respond. These look like serious cutters. Nice that you could give Chugo a break on the second machete. Folks appreciate a break, especially in uncertain times like these. Peace and health to you and your loved ones.

And to you and yours.

Thank you!

If I had one of them here still I'd measure and tell you exactly, but yes, that sounds about right for the ones I've done so far. But obviously I can make the grip any size desired.
