AEB-L was originally developed for razor blades. The extreme fine grain makes it easy to sharpen and holds an edge well.

AEB-L is a fine steel for knives.

I Bought one of Alans folders 2 weeks ago and already have used it as a screwdriver, a pry for a small object, and has schucked and cleaned countless deto wires. And it still looks and functions like new as well as still unsharpened by me. I am so sold on his work I will probably buy a couple more of these type of folders, but not that purty demascus one (which has a great inner steel).
