Rare Vintage AG Russell, limited edition, Bicentennial pocket knives. Condition is pre owned, like new, not carried, not used, not sharpened. Made in Germany in 1976 by Hen & Rooster. These A. G. Russell knives are commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the United States of America. These razor sharp single stainless steel blades with a beautiful mirror polish finish - very bold saber ground blades with a strongly cut swedge and a long pull. Both handle scales are embellished with a stunning rendition of our nations national symbol the American Bald Eagle. The Eagle is depicted clutching the USA shield on the front of the handle and the USA shield and 1776 - 1976 in a furled ribbon on the back of handle. This was executed by the well known and talented scrimshander Bill Shotts in 1976 to commemorate the American Bicentennial. A. G. Russel made 28 knives with 14kt Gold, 1,000 with Sterling Silver, 2,000 with Brass and 3,000 with Stainless Steel handles.
It is stamped on one side of the tang ‘A. G. RUSSELL’ ‘SPRINGDALE, ARK.’ and on the other side ‘STAINLESS’‘GERMANY’.

Very Rare 14Kt , Stainless steel, and 2 Brass knives all in a custom made Walnut display case along with catalog page and papers. These (especially the gold) are as rare and exceptional as they come.
Sold I accept pp f&f and ship usps priority.

I'm surprised by the lack of interest in these. Am I pricing these incorrectly?

Since you asked…Yes. However there may not be much of a market to begin with.

AGR was slicker than a bible salesman. These types of games of his were pure marketing...not really fine cutlery. For example, the AGR‘s ad copy in your catalog page says he “bought back” the 2 gold ones…he had a money back guarantee, they were probably returns. He was a master of the “long con” selling 1976 bicentennial knives in this 1992 ad :)

His wife runs a site that sells knives on consignment, see what they would list them for. You may want pictures showing the sterling hallmark and gold purity.

AG was ahead of the times on knife design as well as marketing.

We have people paying 2-3x actual value for "designer" knives (Pena, etc...).

AG was and Goldie is awesome people. Not sure why they get some much grief sometimes.

Not saying A.G. wasn't a good man, but he sure could be trying. I spent many an hour trying to get him to follow the simplest of rules rather than trying to get away with what he easily could afford to pay for legitimately.

Water under the bridge now and I hope he's in a better place. But dang if he didn't mind calling me at all hours to bellyache.

Apparently this for sale post has turned into folks sharing their ideas and experiences with a very Interesting man.

I have added some information about the knives. Please correct me if any of the information is inaccurate.
